Discovering Yolo County

For me, Yolo County is synonymous with UC Davis, my alma mater. However, much to my surprise, there is much more to Yolo than expected. Just over the mountain range from Napa Valley, it is an up and coming wine region; you can find a fine bottle of wine for very reasonable prices. Yolo also has strong roots in agriculture, which explains why farm-to-table food is becoming more and more prevalent here.

Pier 23 Cafe: A Tasty Piece of SF History

In San Francisco’s early days, there were many waterside shacks along the bustling waterfront. These buildings served the longshoremen who were working the docks and gave them a warm haven to wait it out while ships were late to dock. The Pier 23 Cafe building was one of many “coffee houses” that existed on the bay side of The City. While some food and a warm cup of joe was the standard fare at these type of establishments, it was rumored that all sorts of libation could be found here.

Petaluma Weekend Getaway Guide

Petaluma is the perfect town for a Bay Area weekend getaway. We loved the small farm town vibe. There were so many things to keep us busy that we didn’t even get to everything on our to do list! The city is home to many great events throughout the year such as the Artisan Cheese Festival, Wine Country Chefs of Tomorrow , and Big Q bbq event. A river runs through the quaint downtown where you find antique shops, cute cafes and wine rooms all against a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills. We spent a few days in Petaluma and still haven’t seen half of what the city has to offer. Take a look below to see some places we got a chance to visit and enjoy!
