Mendocino is a beautiful seaside town brimming with character and a culture all its own. A weekend away will slow down your busy life for a bit and allow you to enjoy the simple and finer things in life. It’s close enough to the Bay Area that you can do a quick road trip, but it’s far enough away to feel like you are far from city life. The temperatures are cool and foggy year round, but on lucky days you can catch some sun rays.
North Tahoe is perfect for a summer family vacation and gives you the chance to experience the mountains throughout the region. The crowds are far less than during the winter and it’s great to get up high in the mountains when it’s warm out and the sun is shining. We’ve visited Tahoe plenty of times before, but this was our first vacation with the little ones in tow, so it was a special and new experience. We’ve outlined our itinerary, which was a little slower paced to accommodate nap time and feedings, but also offered just the right amount of fresh air and picturesque views that we crave.
After a few months postpartum, I was starting to get antsy to travel again. With no upcoming tips planned (a rarity for me), an amazing airline deal to Maui appeared! On a whim my mom and I booked my baby’s first airline trip! Even more amazing, babies under two fly free (on your lap) on all airlines. I knew traveling with a baby would be a big adjustment and challenging, but it was certainly worth it. She loved seeing new sights and swimming for the first time. New experiences for the baby and a travel adventure for me!
Colorado is a skip and a hop (over Nevada and Utah) from the Bay Area where you enter the world of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. We had a free weekend in October and had always heard great things about the area and wanted to make a trip to experience it for ourselves. There was way…
Sedona has been on my list of places to go for some time. So when planning our last trip before the baby comes (a.k.a. babymoon) we decided to go for it. Most people plan babymoons in relaxing, tropical locations. I, on the other hand, can never sit still for too long. Spending all day on the beach didn’t sound adventurous enough for me. Even though we weren’t able to do the more challenging hikes, Sedona and Page offer shorter excursions with beautiful views.
We recently had the pleasure of visiting the seaside town of Goleta. It’s an easy drive from the Bay Area, perfect for a weekend getaway. Located minutes from Santa Barbara, it has it has a charm and laid back vibe all it’s own. Goleta is famous for it’s lemon orchards and roots in the agriculture…
For an easy, adventurous and outdoorsy international jaunt, consider a plane ticket to Calgary. Calgary is the gateway to Banff and Jasper: two of Canada’s most awe-inspiring National Parks. From SFO you can hop on a non-stop flight to Calgary, which is surprisingly only 2 hours and 45 minutes away! Enjoy a night or two in the city then get the show on the road and see some of the most beautiful natural sights you’ve ever laid eyes on.
When it heats up in the Bay, we all need a cool escape. Seattle is an easy and inexpensive destination from San Francisco, San Jose, or Oakland airports. In just two hours you can find yourself in the refreshing Pacific Northwest.
South Africa is a hop and a skip away from the Bay Area and a great place to explore a whole different world. We divided our trip into two main parts: Johannesburg area for safaris in the North, and Cape Town for some coastal vibes and a visit to their wine country. See below for a breakdown of our trip by day.
We had the chance to spend a few days Palm Springs and got the opportunity to really explore and discover this vibrant and unique city. Located in the middle of a dessert valley area, the temperatures can soar to the 90s and 100s during the day(higher in the summer) and cool down for a chilly night once the sun sets. Palm Springs is popular for their unique architecture and vibes that can’t be found anywhere else. Pair that with great food choices and lots of fun activities to do and you’ll find yourself coming back for more. Read below for some of the places we checked out this time around!
California is the most beautiful state in the USA (totally bias here!) and is filled with plenty of National Parks. We love the outdoors and wanted to share a short introduction to each park and our experiences at each one. Hopefully these will inspire you to visit one or more!
Good food and good music always make for a great time! Our recent trip to the birthplace of Jazz was just that. New Orleans got a jump start in this amazing genre of music because slaves were allowed to play music openly. The African beats were soon mixed with the brass instruments from Europe and Jazz was born. Along with it came delicious mixture of food, architecture, and culture which what makes New Orleans so unique today. We had the chance to spend a few days in this beautiful city and wanted to share some of favorite places with you.
