Family Ski Trip to Banff and Lake Louise

We visited Banff National Park in Canada a couple of summers ago and fell in love with the nature and landscape. Being avid skiers, we knew we had to make a trip back to experience their amazing ski terrain and to see the park in the wintertime.

The Great Canadian Rockies

For an easy, adventurous and outdoorsy international jaunt, consider a plane ticket to Calgary. Calgary is the gateway to Banff and Jasper: two of Canada’s most awe-inspiring National Parks. From SFO you can hop on a non-stop flight to Calgary, which is surprisingly only 2 hours and 45 minutes away! Enjoy a night or two in the city then get the show on the road and see some of the most beautiful natural sights you’ve ever laid eyes on.

The National Parks of California

California is the most beautiful state in the USA (totally bias here!) and is filled with plenty of National Parks. We love the outdoors and wanted to share a short introduction to each park and our experiences at each one. Hopefully these will inspire you to visit one or more!

Carrizo Plain Wildflower Super Bloom

This year we are lucky that the rains brought a spectacular showing of blooms to California. Southern California’s deserts blossomed and just last week the Super Bloom migrated north and graced Carrizo Plain National Monument with a wild array of flowers. Typically wildflowers can be found in this region from late March to mid April. The blooms are currently at their peak, so we decided to waste no time and headed down south.

Yosemite Guide

One of the world’s most beautiful National Parks is located right in our backyard! More than 5 million people visit Yosemite each year, the majority of them spending all of their time in Yosemite Valley. The valley is a spectacular sight to see, but the park as a whole is 1,189 square miles! There is so much to explore and discover year round. We want to share with you some of our favorite Yosemite spots and hope to continually add to this list as we check more off our Yosemite bucket list!

The Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe Getaway

There is something about a stay at The Ritz Carlton that is always a bit magical. Add a coating of snow and a cozy fireplace and you’ll never want to leave. Their Lake Tahoe location is truly a vacation destination in itself. Perched upon a ski hill there are plenty of experiences right at your doorstep. Adventure and luxury are two of our favorite things. They don’t always mix, but The Ritz somehow always delivers.

Alaska in the Winter: Auroras in Fairbanks

You’ve heard of them, you’ve seen awe inspiring photos of them all across social media. The Auroras, also known as the Northern Lights is an amazing experience that cannot be compared to anything else. The lights don’t just glow, they dance across the night sky. It’s elusiveness adds to the excitement!

New Zealand & Australia Travel Photo Journal

Once and awhile we do leave the Bay Area! Our recent travel adventures brought us to New Zealand and Australia. We absolutely loved New Zealand, with stunning views wherever you look. It’s the perfect place for outdoor adventurers and thrill seekers.

Just a short plane ride away, we hitched a ride to Melbourne and explored the city before heading to Cairns and Port Douglas. Feeding kangaroos, and snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef…we checked off quite a few things off our bucket list!

5 Outdoor Weekend Warrior Trips from Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the least expensive flights out of the SFO, OAK or SJC. In under two hours you can land yourself in the city of sin. While bright lights, gambling, shows, gourmet food, and pool parties are great, sometimes fresh air, a little hiking, and glorious scenery can be even better. Las Vegas is a central jumping off point for some amazing outdoor adventures. Here are our recommendations for the 5 best outdoor weekend warrior trips from Vegas. Get your tush up off the blackjack table and venture outside!

Half Moon Bay Guide

We love to visit Half Moon Bay when it heats up in the South Bay. You can’t beat the cool ocean breeze and the coastline is just gorgeous. The fresh seafood is also a big plus. With many classic seafood and chowder stops that draw a big crowd, this time we tried out some new spots (for us) that we are excited to share with you. We also crossed a big one off of our bucket list…a stay at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay! Below is an overview of our weekend getaway. Feel free to share your own favorite Half Moon Bay spots in the comments below.

Pokémon Go Bay Area Hot Spots

Pokémon Go has taken the Bay Area by storm! We know you “gotta catch ’em all” and we’re here to help you. Many Bay Area businesses are joining in on the fun, so why not grab a bite to eat, or something to drink while you are on the hunt? Below are a list of local businesses where you can catch two pidgeys with one pokéball (okay, bad joke).

Know of any more businesses that are Pokémon hot spots? Please comment below so we can add it to our list.
