A San Francisco Hotel Icon

The Marker is located in the heart of the theatre district in San Francisco and was built in 1910 in the Beaux- arts architecture. You can witness its beautiful pillars and balustrades that you notice right when you walk into the grand lobby. With over 200 rooms that include 40 suites, this is a perfect place for a luxurious city getaway, weddings, meetings, and private events. Here are some highlights of what we loved during our stay.

Service

One thing that really stood out to us during our stay is the service. The door man was always alert and pressed the open door button every time we approached the door. The reception always greeted us with warm smiles and waved us off for a lovely day about town. They also knew we were bringing young children and our dog (who ended up not coming) so they had all these personal touches set up for us like a play tent for the kids and some dog treats for our dog.

Location

The Marker is only located a little over five minute walk from Union Square making it a perfect stay to get around to many popular spots without having to battle traffic and search for parking. During our stay we walked to a nearby cafe for breakfast and then enjoyed ice skating at Union Square. So easy to catch a cable car ride to different parts of town or do some shopping in the area.

Amenities

Once you enter the doors you are met with the gorgeous high ceilings and a beautifully decorated room that looked both perfect yet inviting. We loved sitting by their massive fireplace that have actual seats inside the fireplace where you can warm up. Our room was comfortable and quiet! We weren’t woken up by honking cars or people yelling below. Everything in our room worked, the shower was hot with great water pressure, and the beds and pillows very comfortable- actually quiet an achievement and in some way a rarity with a city full of renovated historical hotels.

Dining- at Tratto

We always love hotels that have attached restaurants for the ease and feel of a staycation. It’s even more amazing with the restaurant is a delicious one! Tratto can be accessed from the lobby of The Marker and is open for breakfast and dinner. We had the pleasure of dining for dinner in this chic restaurant serving rustic Italian dishes. Must tries is their Lemon Drop cocktail and their hand made pasta.

After staying at many hotels in San Francisco, The Marker is one of our favorites. They have everything you could wish for in a perfect stay in San Francisco!
