The Paso Robles area is an upcoming area that makes for a perfect getaway from the Bay Area. Located about 3 hours south of the Bay Area, it has everything you’ll need for some fun and relaxation. We put together a guide showcasing the variety of things this area has to offer.
Eat
Orale Taqueria is located in the middle of Paso Robles on the square. They offer a wide variety of authentic Mexican food for dine in or take out. They also offer Family Style Meals To-Go as well as Catering. We tried out their Family Meal of grilled meat with all the sides and their enchilada dinner. So delicious and very filling! If you want to keep it simple, grab some tacos or burritos to go and head across the street for an easy picnic in the park.
Negranti Creamery is a must stop when visiting Paso Robles. They are a family owned and operated creamery crafting sheep’s milk ice cream. All their ice cream is lactose intolerant friendly and has a lot of health benefits such as being less fatty (vs regular cow’s milk ice cream), higher in protein, easier to digest, rich in vitamins, and lower in saturated fat. We tried a variety of flavors and really enjoyed their Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip.
Fish Gaucho is the place to be when you want a fun and relaxing meal. They have a awesome indoor/outdoor space with high ceilings, lots of tables, and a tequila bar. They are a modern mexican restaurant that has both dine in and take out options available. We opted for take out to enjoy at home and every single dish was delicious. They also have cocktails you can take to go! Would love to dine in next time we are in the area!
Red Scooter Deli is a great place to grab some great sandwiches to enjoy there, in the park across the street, or wherever you plan to go for the day. They have a huge menu of all sorts of breakfast, sandwiches, salad and soup, box lunches, and coffees and teas. Order online for easy grab and go pick up or drop by to see the whole menu in its entirety. They are open every day for breakfast and lunch and also offer delivery and catering.

Jada Winery is an organically-farmed, limited-production, estate Rhone & Bordeaux producer located in Paso Roble’s most prestigious sub-AVA, The Willow Creek District . They have everything on site from vineyards, production, wine aging, bottling, and tasting. Enjoy a tasting on their shaded patio area which is both kid and dog friendly. They provide kids with a fun “tasting” bag of goodies and dogs always get a little treat!
Daou Winery is one of Paso Robles most popular wineries for their beautiful views and great wines. They are a family owned and operated winery located on the West Side of Paso Robles. The Estate is atop DAOU Mountain at 2200ft elevation with over 200 acres planted to predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietals including Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon.
CASS Winery is the perfect California winery. They have won the 2020 Winery of the Year at Central Coast Wine Competition for a third year running under the guidance of millennial winemaker, Sterling Kragten. With a full restaurant and tasting room open 7 days a week, a luxury eco-friendly crate-constructed inn with only 8 units called the GENESEO, and CASS Camp experiences that elevate your experience with offerings like somm and cooking classes, or up your ante of adventure with archery or horseback riding, you can customize your wine country experience to fit YOU.

Hartley Farms is located in San Miguel just outside of Paso Robles. They are a beautiful events and wedding venue that also offers other unique experiences such as farm stays, jam making, tent camping, and more. We had a fun time making our own jam and visiting some of the goats they have on their property.
Lake Nacimiento Resort is a less than hour drive from Paso Robles. This beautiful lake is also known as the “Dragon Lake” for its shape. Enjoy everything from swimming, wakeboarding, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, tubing, boating, sailing, and water skiing any day of the year. We rented one of their patio boats for a few hours and spent the day cruising around enjoying some wind and sunshine.
Sensorio Field of Lights is a very beautiful and unique art installation by Bruce Munro located at a remote location of Paso Robles. It draws in elements of nature, technology, art, and colors. We went right before sunset to witness the thousands of lights slowly turn on while the colorful sunset dipped into the horizon. Food and drinks for purchase are available on site. Buying tickets online beforehand is required and they are sold out every night so don’t wait!
