Today, Sonoma is at the forefront of California’s wine industry, known for growing everything from Pinot Noir to Chardonnay grapes. However, the city also has a rich past including the mission period as well as Mexican colonial history. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing weekend getaway. The town is slow paced, and a bit more casual than it’s Napa Valley neighbors. We enjoyed a couple of days there and have compiled a list of some great places that we visited. We hope you check them out next time you are in wine country!
Petaluma is the perfect town for a Bay Area weekend getaway. We loved the small farm town vibe. There were so many things to keep us busy that we didn’t even get to everything on our to do list! The city is home to many great events throughout the year such as the Artisan Cheese Festival, Wine Country Chefs of Tomorrow , and Big Q bbq event. A river runs through the quaint downtown where you find antique shops, cute cafes and wine rooms all against a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills. We spent a few days in Petaluma and still haven’t seen half of what the city has to offer. Take a look below to see some places we got a chance to visit and enjoy!
Las Vegas is known as the city of sin: bright lights, gambling, and booze. However, it is also a great gateway for outdoor adventurers, like ourselves. A quick and inexpensive 1-2 hour flight from the Bay Area can land you in Las Vegas for an easy Bay Area getaway.
St. Helena is often referred to as the heart of Napa Valley. It offers the best of everything: wine, food, accommodations, and fantastic views! Only a short jog from San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area, it’s the perfect Napa Valley wine country weekend getaway. We have rounded up some of our favorite places to stay, eat, drink, and see in and around the quaint town of St. Helena.
Truckee is my favorite Tahoe town. It’s small and charming, yet it offers a plethora of activities, scenery, and beauty. Only a few hours from San Francisco, Truckee is the perfect Bay Area winter weekend getaway! Wether you are an avid snow bunny, or prefer to admire the snow from the comforts of your cozy cabin, you’ll enjoy this town. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite places in the Truckee area.
